This day is a day that celebrates all fathers. The first references to it date back to the Middle Ages. On the territory of present-day Austria and Germany, church festivities were held on this day.In the 18th century, Father's Day was celebrated as a celebration of the family in which the father fulfills the role of protector and breadwinner.
The modern Father's Day arose as a desire to establish an equal day to that of mothers. This holiday was celebrated for the first time in 1910, which is exactly 3 years after the creation of Mother's Day. But it was recognized as an official holiday only in 1966 in the USA. The date of its celebration - the third Sunday of June - was also agreed there.
This year, Father's Day falls on June 18, 2023.
